How to Join the Swedish Ski Club
Membership in the Swedish Ski Club is open to all persons interested in skiing. We welcome all applications for membership but ask that you follow this basic initiation procedure:
- The prospective member must attend two Club functions, including at least one visit to Skibo with one of his/her sponsors.
- Applicants must have three sponsors from among the senior members, one of whom is the "primary sponsor". The primary sponsor will present the membership application to the Membership Committee. The Membership Chairman may not act as a sponsor.
- After the prospective members have attended two club functions and obtained three sponsors, Membership Chairman shall present the membership application at a regular Board Meeting of the Club for consideration. A unanimous vote by the Board members is required for membership.
MEMBERSHIP DUES
Are paid annually to remain in good standing. Click here for the membership dues form for existing members. All dues not paid by December 15 of the calendar year in which they are due will be subject to a late fee. A member in arrears at the beginning of March shall automatically cease to be a member. Also, dues must be paid before any reservations can be made at Skibo.
Dues for new members and reinstated members are subject to a discount according to when they are paid. Please see the table below for more information on this.
INITIATION FEES & RULES FOR REINSTATEMENT
New members pay regular dues, plus an initiation fee. Here is the schedule:

Fees can be refunded during the first five years for those who must discontinue their membership by moving away from the Greater NY Metropolitan Area. In such a case, which has to be approved by the board, the following schedule shall apply:
| During the first year of membership: | 80% refunded |
| During the second year of membership: | 80% refunded |
| During the third year of membership: | 60% refunded |
| During the fourth year of membership: | 40% refunded |
| During the fifth year of membership: | 20% refunded |
| After five years of membership: | 0% refunded |
REINSTATEMENT OF FORMER MEMBERS
The following dues schedule is applicable for former members in the Swedish Ski Club who want to be reinstated as members within ten years after their resigning from the Club.
- Reinstatement within five (5) years from last day of valid membership: Initiation fee equal to annual dues for applicable category of membership during the season preceding the reinstatement.
- Reinstatement after five (5) years but within ten (10) years from last day of valid membership: Initiation fee equal to one and a half times the annual dues for applicable category of membership during the season preceding the reinstatement.
- Reinstatement of former family member younger than 25 years: No initiation fee.
- Reinstatement of former family member 25 years or older, but younger than 28 years: Initiation fee equal to half the annual dues for applicable category of membership during the season preceding the reinstatement.
