SSC Alpine Championship Giant Slalom Better late than never, right? The newly elected Alpine Chairman apologizes for late reporting of this extremely important skiing event, and promises to be a little prompter next year. This was the first time undersigned participated/organized the club races, and I had frankly hoped for a little better turnout among the members. I quickly learned how informal and fun these races are, and I sincerely hope that more people will come out next year. No reason to be intimidated folks, all levels of skiing ability was present at Bromley, and the course was easy enough for the really young ones (Olivia Hebrand: "This is my first ever ski-race and I LOVE IT..!!!!), to slightly more mature skiers who had tons of fun as well. Speaking of older, rusty, over-the-hill racers, we missed two members of our SSC Ski Racing Team, Klas Holm and Einar Ulfsson. Klas and Christine had a brand spanking new baby boy on the 25th , (Lots of congratulations to the Holms!!!!!) so I guess Klas had an excuse, although would it not have been fun to give birth at Skibo, Christine?? We sorely missed Einars neon green racing suit to light up the place, so next year make sure you prioritize Speaking of the SSC Ski Racing Team, a new valuable member has emerged: Pelle Tuneblom showed up with some outstanding skiing, so hopefully hell join the team next year at the Metropolitan Ski races!! Juniors: The little older group: Congratulations and well done to all!! Rolf Klaeboe |
